14. Romans 16:25-27
I’m not comfortable creating and posting my paraphrase here, so what follows is from The New Living Translation. (affiliate link)
Now all glory to God, who is able to make you strong, just as my Good News says. This message about Jesus Christ has revealed his plan for you Gentiles, a plan kept secret from the beginning of time. But now as the prophets foretold and as the eternal God has commanded, this message is made known to all Gentiles everywhere, so that they too might believe and obey him. All glory to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, forever. Amen.
15. Summary of Paul’s letter to the believers in Rome
Since Paul’s visit to Rome remained long overdue, he poured out his love and message in a letter. Paul included both doctrine and practical application.
He told them about God’s grace and glory and what Jesus, the Anointed One accomplished for us.
We’ve all sinned and can’t do anything to make ourselves righteous. We don’t have to straighten ourselves out first, either. Jesus’ humiliating, sacrificial death provides the way for all people to be freed from the bondage of sin and made holy — in right relationship with God.
Paul knows the challenge of mixing Jewish and Gentile believers. He gives them practical advice about getting along and helping each other grow to maturity. He encourages them to maintain unity in the bond of love.
In humility, Paul gives God all the glory and thanks those whose help has proved invaluable both in spreading the Good News and hosting local communities of believers.
16. A plan kept secret from the beginning of time
The plan is called a mystery because no one knew exactly when the Messiah would come and they expected him to be a military king like David for the Jews only.
Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it! Colossians 1:27 TPT
17. To the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. (ESV)
As I sort and organize the pile of lessons and handwritten notes, I will reflect on all that God has done on for others and for me.
I’m thankful for Paul’s endurance and faithfulness. His chains brought the rich good news we studied all year.
God’s plans for our lives is no different in that regard. How many times have I complained about circumstances when it was all working together for my good and for the good of hopefully countless others? Wow.
I realized at the beginning of my BSF journey and posting my answers online that my husband is like my Barnabas. He enables and supports me in many ways. When things often get crazy, and I’m inevitably behind, he fetches dinner or entertains grandchildren which isn’t his favorite thing to do.
When I’m up late trying to finish a lesson, he gets a granddaughter ready for school so I can sleep a little later.
He insists I get a new computer over the break because mine is getting old and has given me trouble this year. He doesn’t want me to be left without one if it completely fails.
I hope all of you have a wonderful summer break. See you in three to four months. God bless you all!
