12. Elohim (God) created us, blessed us, and gave us provision, authority, and responsibility.

  • We are human beings in God’s image, reflecting God’s nature.
  • He gave humans dominion over and responsibility for the fish, birds, cattle, and every animal.
  • God provided every sort of seed-bearing plant and every kind of fruit-bearing tree as nourishment.
  • God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. (NOG)

I’m forever grateful to you, Lord God of heaven and earth.

Thank You for creating me in Your likeness. What an incredible honor!

The more I seek You, the more I find You. The more I find You, the more I love You. I want to sit at Your feet drink, from the cup in Your hand, lay back against You and breathe, feel Your heartbeat. This love is so real, it’s more than I can stand. I melt in Your peace, it’s overwhelming. (Lyrics from The More I Seek You)

Genesis 1:27-30; John 3:16; Acts 17:24-28

13. Like Paul, the only boast we have is in Christ.

Job 35:7-8; 41:11

Jehovah — the I AM. The self-existent one. He doesn’t need anything. All that we have, He provided. (Philippians 4:19)

That said, we can give Him praise, gratitude, obedience, love, devotion, honor, and glory.

We can offer our lives as a living sacrifice.

We can share what we have by feeding the hungry, giving water to the thirsty, provide shelter for the homeless, clothe the naked, tenderly care for the sick, and visit those in prison.

When you cared for one of the least important of these my little ones, my true brothers and sisters, you demonstrated love for me. (from Matthew 25:35-40 TPT)

14. Who can give to God in advance so that God must pay him back?

The Pharisees believed their status as Israelites and obedience to the law obligated God to bless them. They made a show of fasting and giving alms to the poor.

Today, many get the impression that life is supposed to be easier for believers. If God is a good Father and He can do anything, why doesn’t He stop bad things from happening?

Others believe they deserve heaven because

  • their parents are Christians,
  • they attend church services,
  • they were baptized,
  • they haven’t done anything THAT bad, etc.

Tithing, offerings, and donations may be given with expectation-strings attached.

15. For from him and through him and to him are all things. (Romans 11:36 ESV)

“All these words are monosyllables. A child just learning to read could easily spell them out. But who shall exhaust their meaning?” (Meyer)

From him or of him — This plan Paul has been writing about wasn’t his idea. No one came up with it. God did.

We didn’t say, “I’ve offended God and have to find a way back to Him. Let’s work on a plan to come back to God.” In our spiritual indifference and death we didn’t care about a plan, and even if we did care we aren’t smart enough or wise enough to make one. It is all of Him. (Guzik)

Through him — Even if we had the plan, we couldn’t make it happen.

We couldn’t free ourselves from this prison of sin and self. It could only happen through Him, and the great work of Jesus on our behalf is the through Him that brings salvation. (Guzik)

To him — It’s not for me, it’s not for you, it’s all to Him.

It is to the praise of the glory of His grace (Ephesians 1:6). It’s for His pleasure that we are created, and we find our fulfillment in bringing Him glory and honor. (Guzik)

16. God created the world for His profound glory.

To Him be the glory forever!

Speaking of our world and our universe, scientists say our universe isn’t the only one. How many are there?

The fact that no one knows the answer to this question is what makes it exciting. The story of physics has been one of an ever-expanding understanding of the sheer scale of reality, to the point where physicists are now postulating that there may be far more universes than just our own. Chris Anderson

String theory postulates the existence of ten or more additional dimensions other than our known 3-D world plus time. I’m not surprised.

Isaiah 43:7; Ephesians 1:5-10; Revelation 4:1
