Revelation Lesson 5 Day 4

Message to the Faithful in Thyatira

Revelation 2:18-29

9. Christ’s message for the faithful in Thyatira—

(You) “who have not followed this false teaching (‘deeper truths,’ as they call them—depths of Satan, actually).” Revelation 2:24 NLT

  • Jesus sees everything, taking note of our good motives and the fruit of the Spirit it produces in our lives.
  • Jesus commends us for Love, faith, patience, service to others, and persistence.
  • Jesus recognizes and commends those who don’t let go of the truth and aren’t distracted by false teaching.
  • He notices and is pleased when we grow in these areas.
  • He says, “Don’t let go of the truth.”
  • And “Persevere to the end of the race.”

10. Jesus’ plan for us

Jesus told them (the people he fed who afterward came looking for Him), “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29

Jesus told His followers “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:18 MSG

Someday God’s people will judge the world and angels. Jesus reminds believers He gave us the authority to train disciples in all nations, deal with false prophets, and settle arguments. Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:2-3

Rewards for the faithful

To those who persevere and overcome*, He will give authority and power over the nations. The Greek word for authority used here is the same word used in Luke 19:17 “‘Well done!’ the king exclaimed. ‘You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.’”

*Conquer, Conqueror, Overcome, Prevail, Victory, Victorious *Strong’s Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.

“…you who have followed me will also rule, starting with the twelve tribes of Israel. And not only you, but anyone who sacrifices home, family, fields—whatever—because of me” Matthew 19: 28-29 MSG

God will give them the morning star. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus gives His Messianic credentials—”I am the Root (the Source, the Life) and the Offspring of David, the radiant and bright Morning Star.”

What this means to me

Jesus shows us the big picture. He wants us to realize who we are and what we have in Him. He gave us authority.

That was God’s plan for mankind all along. He gave Adam and Eve dominion. Jesus lights our way, backs up our credentials, and tells us to go for it!

I need this reminder every morning. Before I get bogged down in details. Before I get side-tracked.

Before I get frustrated and complain.
