Revelation Lesson 25 Day 2 Satan Bound

Satan Bound for A Thousand Years

Revelation 20:1-3

3. A.  John saw an angel coming down from heaven.

The angel held the key to the bottomless pit and a heavy chain.

He grabbed the Dragon, that old Snake—the very Devil, Satan himself!— MSG

B. Satan bound for a thousand years

He dumped him into the Abyss, slammed it shut and sealed it tight.

4. God’s Authority

Job 1-2

—Job lived before the Law of Moses and probably before Abraham.

—God put a hedge of protection around Job so that Satan could not touch him.

—Satan knew about this protection. He was already prowling around Job trying to devour him.

—Satan is accountable to God. God questioned him because he knew what he was up to.

—Satan questioned Job’s motives. God knew Job’s heart.

—Satan is behind the evils that curse the earth.

—Satan requested permission to test Job. (see two views on this below)

—It appears God put limits on what Satan could do.

Regardless of whether this was the Lord giving Satan permission or if it was just the Lord admitting to Satan that he already had dominion over fallen man, this doesn’t directly apply to us today. All New Testament believers have been delivered from the power of Satan’s kingdom and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son (Colossians 1:13). Satan doesn’t have the authority over any born-again believer that he had over Job. And we have a covenant with the Lord full of promises that Job didn’t have. This is not an apples-to-apples comparison. Andrew Wommack

5. A. Satan’s mission on earth

John 10:10

Satan is a thief, a killer, and a destroyer.

John 8:42-45

—Satan was a murderer from the beginning.

—He is a liar and the father of lies.

—He opposes God’s plans.

—He denies Jesus as the Messiah and deceives others.

2 Corinthians 4:4

—Satan blinds the minds of unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the good news of Jesus Christ.

—Thankfully, the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. Romans 1:16

—The anointing breaks the yoke of slavery. Isaiah 10:27

1 Peter 5:8

Satan is our enemy.

He prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.

B. Our confidence in Jesus Christ

This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. Ephesians 3:11

Through faith

So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”  Galatians 3:11 NLT

God gave Jesus ALL authority and commissioned us to walk in His authority.

Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18 AMP
