These are my answers to BSF Bible study questions on People of the Promised Land Part 1 Lesson 12 Day 3 ~

1 Samuel 19; Psalm 59

6. Taking risks

Jonathan spoke up for David and reminded Saul of David’s victory over the giant who was terrorizing Isreal.

Michal helped David escape then lied saying he was sick in bed.

Saul was irrational, so taking steps to protect David could make even Jonathan and Michal targets.

7. After nine years of caregiving, I’m thankful for a break.
8. Psalm 59 contrasts the evil deeds and words of the prowling assassins with David’s trust in God’s protection.

Instead of threats and curses, David’s lips sing loving praise to God. Although David is a mighty warrior, he doesn’t defend himself when Saul hurls his spear.

David didn’t just focus on his problems. He brought them to the Lord in prayer, praise, and worship.

Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 NKJV

Names of God

Kay Arthur wrote a Bible Study book that takes you through some of the names of God. I still remember the impact it had on me.

I recently listened to a teacher who said we should ask God “Who do you want to be for me in this season?”

If we need finances, we need Jehovah Jirah, the God who provides.

If we need healing, we need Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals.
