Heal the Sick

Since we began listening to Curry Blake teaching on Matthew 10:8*, we have been looking for opportunities to pray for people while we are out and about.

The other day when we were at the mall food court, this older man in a wheelchair inched his way over to our table. I originally sat there because I wanted to pray for him, but I got nervous because he seemed angry and perhaps mentally disturbed.

When G arrived to pick me up for our evening appointment, the man seemed drawn to him especially. After a few minutes of “conversation,” we asked if we could pray for him. He instantly perked up and said “yes.”

After we prayed the first time, he said the pain in his legs was better but not gone. After we prayed the second time, his demeanor changed.

He started talking about how he was saved and filled with the spirit at age 9. He mentioned he heard G speaking in tongues. He said, “God is so good. It was God that brought me over to talk to you. This made my day.”

When we left for our evening appointment, he was still happy and praising God. We forgot about the pain in his legs, and I think he did, too.

He felt like God had forgotten him, but God showed him he had not. With tears in his eyes, he said, “God touched me! I can feel it.”

*”Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” NKJV
