13. God of all creation
Elohim (God) created the world we live in and it’s delicate balance of atmosphere and resources. He created people, animals, and plants — and everything our earth needs to thrive.
God also created the sun to keep us warm enough and created light so we can see. The moon and stars are our night lights and calendar.
14. Every created thing, praise the Lord!
Even the sun, moon, and stars praise him; the angels and the water above the heavens. (Ps. 148:2-4)
For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace. The mountains and the hills will break out before you into singing; and all the trees of the fields will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12
I’m reviewing the questions and notes from this study ten years ago. The curriculum has changed dramatically. One thing I didn’t ponder as deeply the first time around was the thought that God created light before he created lights.
However, I just learned that the word translated made in Genesis 1:16 is ASAH which means “forming or molding something from existing materials.”3 Barah used in Genesis 1:1 means “to create out of nothing.” (Vines Expository Dictionary)
So, it appears that the materials for the sun, moon, and stars were created in the beginning, but they were only made and placed in their positions here on the fourth day of creation.2
Either way, our God is awesome!
Let’s join with all creation giving praise to the Lord our creator!
