Matthew Lesson 5 Day 3

Matthew 5:5-8

7) Blessed are the Meek

Humble: lowly in heart; gentle; the antithesis of proud, arrogant, and haughty; in need of a safe refuge.

Opposite of meek—arrogant boasters, high-and-mighty, believing they are better, smarter, more important, and more righteous than others.

Meek—They will inherit the earth.—We will reign with Christ on the earth; will be rewarded openly for

8) Hunger and thirst for righteousness

Desire to know and understand God’s truths and His ways;

Longing to be perfect as He is perfect;

Desire to see our flesh come into alignment with the new man; renewing our mind.

When we are born again, our old thought patterns—sometimes referred to as stinking thinking—persists unless we make a concerted effort to renew our minds with the help and guidance of the indwelling Christ.

Opposite of hunger and thirst for righteousness—again, apathetic, shameless, lovers of darkness

Reward: They will be filled. Completely satisfied.

9) Blessed are the Merciful

Forgive without setting limits and without keeping track of the number of times—even those who habitually treat us atrociously.  It really says that, doesn’t it?

Opposite of merciful—unforgiving, demanding, impatient, pitiless, heartless, cold-hearted, inhumane, cruel

Reward: They will be shown mercy—Give and it will be given. Forgive and you will be forgiven.

10) Blessed are the Pure in heart

A heart that is undivided in its love for God.

A pure heart leads to bearing good fruit—the end result is clean hands.

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim…in the light of His glory and grace.

Pure in heart—They will see God.—Spend eternity with Him in the life to come. But I believe we can also see Him in this life if we renew our minds, crucifying our flesh so that there is nothing between us and Him.

11) Personal testimony

The more I seek the Lord and the more I study the scriptures the less interest I have in the things of earth. When I find a nugget of revelation, I want more.

When I hear Him speak to me in a whisper, I long for greater clarity.

Whatever it takes to remove the barriers between us, I pursue it.

I am my Beloved’s and He is mine. 💗
