Genesis 24:28-51

Abraham’s servant confirmed God’s choice of Rebekah with her family.

9) Rebekah’s family believed Eliezer and the God of Abraham.

Laban said, “Come in, O blessed of the LORD!” At this point, he probably said that because he was impressed by the display of wealth.

After Eliezer explained the reason his master, Abraham, sent him to Ur per Abraham’s instructions and heard the way God answered his prayer for guidance, Laban and Bethuel, both sons of Nahor, said, “this is from the LORD” and “here is Rebekah; take her and go, and let her become the wife of your master’s son, as the LORD has directed.” (Genesis 24:51)

10) The servant’s story

He accurately relayed the events and conversation that occurred at the well.

The details confirmed that Rebekah was God’s choice.

Rebekah was not a Canaanite girl.

She offered to water the camels.

God led him straight to the granddaughter of his master’s brother.

Her family agreed to let Rebekah go and marry Isaac.

11) Eliezer gave God the glory.

When the servant heard what Laban and Bethuel said, he bowed down to the ground to worship.

Like every true servant of Christ, he put his master’s business before his own ease or comfort; even before the question of necessary food. When a man begins to think more of his eating than of doing the will of God, he ceases to be a true-hearted minister. (Spurgeon)

12) Eliezer remained faithful to Abraham and to God.

Therefore, God was faithful to provide the necessary guidance, and He promises to the same for us.

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:6

The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23-24 (NLT)

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NLT)

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. . . .But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:16-17, 26 (NLT)
