My Answers to Questions for Acts of the Apostles Lesson 16

By Faith—

6. Old Covenant Hall of faith

Enoch’s intimate walk with God provokes me to jealousy. (v. 5.)

Abraham obeyed God even when He said to—

  • Leave and go to the land I will give you as an inheritance, but did not tell him where it was. (v. 8)
  • Sacrifice your only son. Abraham believed it was possible for God to raise the dead, so he passed this difficult test. (v. 18)

Isaac, prompted by faith, imparted the blessing to his sons, Jacob and Esau. (v. 20)

Jacob blessed Joseph’s sons, and he worshipped leaning on the head of his staff. (v. 21)

Joseph prophesied that God would visit the people of Israel and bring them out of Egypt, and he made the sons of Israel swear to take his bones with them. (v. 22) (Genesis 50:24-25)

Moses parents, prompted by faith, hid him for three months. They didn’t allow the king’s decree to terrify them. (v. 23)

So many others, but time does not permit.

7. These saints died in faith before they saw the promises fulfilled.

They didn’t die with regrets or seeking to renew lost faith.

8. My test of faith—God’s promise for my family.

For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
and streams on the dry ground.
I will pour my Spirit on your descendants,
and my blessing on your offspring:
and they will spring up among the grass,
as willows by the watercourses.
One will say, ‘I am Yahweh’s;’
and another will be called by the name of Jacob;
and another will write with his hand ‘to Yahweh,’
and honor the name of Israel.”

This is what Yahweh, the King of Israel,
and his Redeemer, Yahweh of Armies, says:
“I am the first, and I am the last;
and besides me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:3-6)

Many years ago, the Lord quickened this passage to me as a promise concerning my sons. It challenges me to stand firm in faith for them and the generations to come.

Although I pray for them, this study reminds me to pray into His promise.
